Appointment Enquiries

The practice is closed for 2024 as Talia Wahnon is on maternity leave.

Weekday and after hours appointments available. Appointments are 50 minutes in length.

What to Expect

During your first one or two appointments we may spend the majority of the time gathering information about your current difficulties and background. You may also be asked to complete one or two questionnaires.

There is usually no standard treatment duration and the number of consultations required to get the changes you want will vary from person to person. However, after the assessment has been conducted your psychologist can sometimes give you an informed estimate and discuss your options with you.

In our experience those who do well are those who can set aside time to put new skills into practice, who implement the new skills outside of session and who openly discuss any difficulties they may be having with treatment so that it can be problem solved in session.

As a general guide, short-term skills-based therapy may usually be around 6 – 10 sessions, whereas therapy which helps you identify and begin to resolve longer term or more deeply ingrained beliefs can require a longer commitment and it is common for clients to attend for between 6 months to 1 year and (usually weekly or  fortnightly). This is a realistic time frame for people wanting to make significant change and break long-term patterns.

Consultation Fees

Our fees are set below those recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.

Please contact Talia to discuss fees

Medicare

If you would like to claim Medicare rebates for clinical psychology sessions, you will need a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. This will entitle you to claim rebates for an initial six sessions under Medicare's Better Access to Mental Health Initiative. After your sixth session, your GP will review your progress and may grant you an additional four rebates. This means you can access up to ten rebates per calendar year at $126.50 per rebate.

For further information on the Medicare rebate for psychology services (please access this fact sheet).

Health Fund Rebates

Some private health funds offer rebates for psychology services. The amount of the rebate depends on your level of cover. We can process rebates for most major private health funds. If we cannot process the rebate for you through our terminal, we can provide you with an invoice and all the information you need to claim directly from your health fund.

Please note that you cannot claim both Medicare and private health fund rebates for the same session.

Cancellation Policy

Life can be busy and it is understood that you may need to reschedule your appointment from time to time. We do our best to be flexible, but please note that cancellations made with less than 72 hours notice will incur a late cancellation fee , as this time period is too short for us to offer your appointment slot to somebody else.

* If you give less than 72 hours (3 days) notice, then 50% of the full session fee is incurred.

* If you give less than 24 hours (1 day) notice, then a 100% of the full session fee is incurred.

To help you avoid incurring a late cancellation fee, you will receive a reminder email at least 5 days before your appointment.
